Biography
Born in Montreal, Annick has been drawing as long as she can remember. It’s a family thing, she says. When the time came to make a choice of career, Law school had the upper hand over Art. A decision she does not regret. She practiced law for 10 years before becoming a communication specialist, without ever stopping her art–which Annick has now been doing seriously for close to 12 years. She has also taken different classes to perfect her techniques and widen her horizons.
Very much into figurative art at first (the body and all its shapes), she chose to go towards abstract drawing where her passion for figures and colours could flow without restraint, even welcoming improvisation−which finds its balance in the many details and textures that characterize her art. And this is how each figure finds its own personality, in harmony or not with its neighbour’s. The result: a coherent or incoherent ensemble of shapes and colours, that resonates differently with each person and that illustrates life in all its nuances.
Finally, pastel and graphite, for the great latitude they give Annick in her work creation, are perfect allies that contribute in making her art unique.
